Environmental Inspection Ltd offer Asbestos Priority Risk Assessments for all Asbestos Management Surveys and Asbestos Re-inspection documents. This additional assessment helps with the Management of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) as part of the Asbestos Management Plan as required by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR2012) Regulation 4.8.
All Asbestos Surveys and Re-inspection documents will assess the condition of the Asbestos Containing Material and their ability to release fibres into the air if they were to be disturbed in their current condition. This assessment of each individual Asbestos Containing Material is done using the Asbestos Material Assessment Algorithm. This standard assessment will produce a risk score ranging from very low to high risk.
It is also recommended that other factors are assessed for long term management of the Asbestos Containing Materials on a site. The Asbestos Priority Risk Assessment can be used to assess these risks giving a more accurate assessment for long term management and prioritisation for remedial programs.
What does the Priority Risk Assessment Assess?
The Asbestos Priority Risk Assessment will individually assess the following for each Asbestos Containing Material:
- Maintenance activity
- Occupancy activity risk
- Likelihood of disturbance
- Human exposure potential
The Asbestos Priority Risk Assessment can only be carried out with detailed knowledge of all the listed factors and detailed knowledge of the site. Environmental Inspection will assess and populate the Asbestos Priority Risk Assessment at the time of the survey but this information must be reviewed by the duty holder and amendments made if necessary based on his knowledge of the location where the Asbestos Containing Material has been identified. The Asbestos Priority Risk Assessment for each Asbestos Containing Material will form the basis of the Asbestos Management Plan, so it is important that this information / assessment are accurate.
